There are many ways that brides choose to include their favorite colors into the weddings, which range from subtle inclusions in their bouquets to the full on dramatic, including a wedding gown in that shade. No matter what your favorite color is, there is a wonderful way to work it into the wedding.
Dresses
When you consider dresses and your favorite color, consider the feelings of whoever will be wearing that dress. If you choose a wedding dress in your favorite color, then that is entirely your choice, and one that you should enjoy. No matter what tradition says, there is no law saying that you have to be married in white, and there are plenty of happy brides who have been married in every color from red to black.
If you choose to be more traditional but still want to work the color into clothing, then the next logical choice is the bridesmaids. If this is the case, then be very careful of the feelings of the maids. Consider the color with their skin and hair colors; your favorite color may be beautiful, but it might also be unflattering to at least one maid. Also consider how you would feel wearing that color and style of dress. Perhaps you love the style, and you certainly love the color, but do they work well together? Is your color really right for dresses? If not, then consider trying to find another way to work that color in.
If the dress choice isn’t right, consider other subtle ways to include the color. Buy the groomsmen cummerbunds or ties in that color, or even find groomsmen shirts embroidered in the color of your choice (the embroidery can be as simple as initials on the cuffs, but that can still be a lovely touch, and one that you will enjoy).
Flowers
Flowers are another wonderfully versatile way to work your favorite colors into the wedding. If your favorite color is black you may be out of luck, but there are so many shades and types of flowers that it should be possible to find almost any color to add to bouquets and arrangements for your wedding. If the flower colors will not go with the bridesmaids dresses, then consider using them for decorations and for your reception, instead.
Talk to your florist about what flowers might come in your favorite color. To get the perfect shade, bring a sample of that color for the florist to look at. If you can’t find something perfect in the house, head to the nearest paint store for a paint tab; these come in every color under the sun, and they don’t cost anything to take for your florist.
Ribbons and Bows
There are many ways to work your favorite color into the reception. You can use tablecloths in your favorite colors; you can use ribbons and decorations and even balloons as well. Consider the many subtle color choices that you will have to be making all the time. If you want white tablecloths, what about a set of napkins in your favorite shade? What about making your own table stand out (since you’ll be wearing white anyway, and might not want to blend in with your table).
You can also use your favorite color in small decorations about the room. If you have floating candles at each table, consider lining the bowls with glass beads in your favorite color. Confetti on the tables can add a splash of color, and even the accents on your cake can be done in the color and design of your choice.
